Carnival of Rust!

Carnival Of Rust by Poets of The Fall

Does a song give you shocks running through your entire nerve system(of the anticipated metal overtones, not the sixth sense stuff) because of your preconceived notion from its name?

Poets of The fall, a band whose name has not been in Indian rock circle(of a big number of wannabes and a very few really original goods carriers) which otherwise might have had at least a few mention, has a name which sounds more like a thinkers band. After hearing their song, Carnival of Rust, the image was busted further. The song has a very beautiful feel, for a rock music to fall into the category, it is not the screaming that put it there, rather it is the tone which it sets put it there. The song has got nice lyrics. It lacks punch but goes well the the music. All of this is more than ably supported by extremely well directed and artistically managed music video. The carnival setting is absolutely brilliant! The portrayal of a rusty carnival with the color tone giving it a very earthy feel makes a real tough balance between melancholic and ecstatic. Unlike some of Maiden's videos this doesn't swing more towards melancholic.

This is one band which has to be heard again and again. I do hope to be able to follow it further and make a more thorough opinion myself before saying further.

Few notes:

Snow Patrol's A hundred Million Suns – A worthy buy album.

Veronicas – TaTu Pretenders.

Amy Macdonald's Mr. Rock n Roll – A worthy song for download.
